Day 271: The Wall

I went on my own personal photo walk during lunch yesterday … which basically means I walked around and took pictures of random things while people looked at me funny. I found out that contrary to popular belief, you can get good photos midday! I ended up with several keepers, but this was one of my favorites.

Day 269: Come Fly Away

I’m glidin’ in the beautiful sky, it’s such a clear day, oh
Go ridin’ in your sweet lullabies, come fly away, ay oh

– “Come Fly Away” by Benny Benassi

As we left my friend Tekia's Southern Comfort Food Fest yesterday, this hot air balloon was taking off toward the sunset. Those of you who know T understand how perfectly this represents her.

Day 268: A trip to the zoo!

I have friends who are on a mission trip in Mozambique, Africa. When they first arrived a few days ago, they got to go on an African Safari where they saw all kinds of wild animals. As much as I’d love to be with them, this is the closest I’ll get for now – a trip to “Africa” and other part of the world at the Kansas City Zoo. Here are my top five favorite photos of the day. Which one is your favorite?

An elephant marches toward its food.
A lazy gorilla basks in the sunlight.
A lemur poses perfectly for my photo.
Two baboons look on at something with interest.
This bird, maybe some kind of parrot(?), nibbles at a clover.

Day 264: A New Covet

Yesterday was my hubby’s birthday, so we both took the day off to enjoy a little relaxation time. I took him on a surprise tour of the Harley-Davidson factory. He has wanted a motorcycle for quite a while, but seeing all those Harleys has definitely upped his yearning. I keep joking that he can get one after we’ve gotten our [unborn] kids through college.

Days 260-262: Birthdays X’s Three

Big surprise … we were on the go this weekend again. Friday evening we stopped by a tattoo parlor to get a price quote, because my husband and his brother are getting tattoos for their birthdays here in a few weeks. Saturday we drove down to Joplin, Mo. to see Jerod’s friend’s new baby girl, Tynlie, who was born that morning. After a short visit, we went to a bonfire at a family friend’s house in Southeast Kansas. Sunday we celebrated Jerod and Jacob’s birthdays with the family. (Did you know Jerod is a twin?)  As usual, we were thoroughly entertained by his niece and nephew. After a long weekend we finally made it home by 10 p.m. Sunday evening, just in time for bed.

Baby Tynlie, just a few hours after being born. They say she has her dad's ears.
Beth and Caleb, our niece and nephew, have a blast spinning in a computer chair. Kids are so easily entertained.
