Miss M | And She’s Two

This girl. I feel like I was just bringing her home from the hospital, but last weekend we celebrated her second birthday. It’s funny to look back on how we thought she’d be our easy-going child. She’s fierce. She’s opinionated, she’s a talker, she doesn’t take “no” for an answer. She has the biggest personality! She and her sister are best friends – it’s a childhood bond I never really understood until I had two of my own, since my sister and I were twelve years apart.

Miss M loves Elmo and swimming, so we had an Elmo pool party! (Can I just say I love summer birthdays?)

It has been fun to take monthly photos of her, but as she grows, she won’t change as quickly, so I’ll concentrate on filling out her baby book rather than posting monthly. 😉

See how she’s changed from two months ago (I forgot to post last month), last year, and when she was a newborn.

Family Portraits | Rainy Spring Day

Last weekend’s family portrait session almost got rained out, but the skies parted up just in time. Little Dean just turned two, and I have to say, he did amazing! He posed and smiled perfectly … he must have had his photo taken a time or two before. 🙂 Enjoy these photos from the beautiful Loose Park, and check out how Dean has changed since his one-year shots.

Miss M | Twenty-one months

Whew. My baby is officially getting close to two. She has started putting more words together, saying things like, “Found it!” and “Where’s Sawyer?” (her friend) and, “My turn!” She likes to sit on the potty but hasn’t quite figured out what it’s for. And this spring weather has certainly reminded us how much she loves being outside. She’s tries to ride the Strider bike and has learned proper technique for riding a scooter (but still needs help, of course). She has a huge personality and gets people laughing constantly. Gosh, I sure wish time would slow down.

See how she’s changed since last month.

This was the best photo I could get, because she wouldn’t stand still for a second!

Miss M | Fifteen (and Fourteen) Months

Miss M turned fifteen months old a few days ago – man, time sure does fly! I’m posting her fourteen month picture too, since I missed that one.

She’s a little person with a ton of personality, toddling around and making us laugh constantly. She gets into everything, screams when she doesn’t get what she wants, dances her booty off, scribbles on the walls, and has no fear of climbing onto big sister’s scooter and taking off down the driveway.

She’s catching up on the growth chart, weighing in at 20.5 pounds & 30 inches, putting her in the 40-50th percentile.

She’s a talker too, with probably 20-30 words in her vocabulary, although a lot of them sound similar and Mommy and Daddy are probably the only ones who can decipher most of them.

See how she’s changed here.

She takes off down the road, then turns around and gives us a mischievous smile and wave. Luckily we’re on a quiet cul-de-sac and always stay close behind.

Wizard of Oz Birthday

Little Miss K has loved Wizard of Oz for a couple of years, so it was natural that she wanted a “Dorothy” birthday party. I can’t believe this girl is already four years old! Her birth feels like yesterday. We had a great time celebrating with family and close friends My mom did a great job with the cake. I found the figurines for it on ebay – they were from the 2013 McDonald’s Happy Meals. I had fun designing the decorations and coming up with food ideas – there wasn’t much out there on Pinterest, believe it or not. Here’s what we did:

Yellow brick road: egg casserole

Over the rainbow: fruit rainbow

Bugels: tornados

Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!: animal crackers

Ruby slippers: Hot Tamales

Witch’s broomsticks: pretzels

Tin man hats: Hershey’s kisses

Aunt Em’s fresh squeezed juice: You guessed it – juice!

Photo of the Day: My Girl

I haven’t been posting on the blog nearly as often lately, because I haven’t been taking nearly as many photos. We’ve been so busy with a new job, a move to a new house, and a new baby on the way, that I’ve barely had time! This weekend we had friends stay with us, so I had my camera out a lot. I just had to share this photo – a rare image with perfect focus, captured while Lil’ Miss K was jumping all over the place. More pics of the weekend to come!

Palm Sunday Portraits

Lil’ Miss K was hesitant to parade down the aisle for Palm Sunday in front of the entire congregation, but by the end of church and Sunday school yesterday, she couldn’t stop dancing around with her palm. She even told us how Jesus rode on a donkey and people laid down their palms for him. I love this girl and her enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.

Portrait Session | She’s three? How can that be?

This little girl is growing up way too fast. She’s a ball of energy with a lot of sass and a lot to say. She couldn’t be any cuter! I’ve had the pleasure of taking her photos since she was an infant, so I love looking back to see how she’s changed. Since she has a late fall birthday, we utilized our newly remodeled church, which has great natural light.
