I was excited to photograph one of my “regular” families last weekend at the beautiful Black Hoof Park. The leaves were starting to turn, making for perfect fall portraits. I always appreciate their continued support and love watching their family grow up! The sibling bond between these three is the best.

Senior Portraits | Spencer
My sister started talking about me shooting my nephew’s senior photos back when he was in middle school. It seemed so far off. He was, after all, only six when I got married. But with the blink of an eye, here we are. His senior year. Last weekend, I had a great time visiting both recognizable and unique spots around Topeka to capture his senior photos. There are SO many images to choose from (over 600, to be exact). Here are a few of my favorites.
Do you have a student graduating high school this year? It’s not too late for portraits! I think fall is the best time for photos, and turnaround time is just a few weeks. Contact me if you’d like to discuss.
Miss M | Now She’s Three
Miss M. Ornery. A ball of fire. A little comedian. A talker who has never known a stranger. Our helper with a big heart. She keeps us on our toes and makes us laugh daily. I went through photos and videos tonight, reminiscing about how much she’s changed over the last year. She continues to amaze me – telling jokes, picking on her older sister, and making friends with everyone she meets.
I may be a month late taking her yearly photo with Dad, but better late than never! Her birthday party was a few weeks late anyway, thanks to COVID-19. See how she’s changed since her last birthday.
First Birthday Portraits | Happy Baby
I absolutely love taking first birthday photos! They can be hard – toddlers don’t exactly sit still – but their first steps, smiles, and laughs are the best. As you can see, sweet Hollyn is one happy baby! See how she’s changed since her newborn photos a year ago.
Back in business | Family portraits
Aside from a few mini sessions during the stay-at-home order, I haven’t had the opportunity to do portraits in many months, so I was more than excited to take one of my favorite families’ annual portraits last weekend! If you haven’t had family photos taken lately…outdoor portraits are a great way to support local photographers from a safe distance.
Sidenote: now is also the time to book 2021 senior portraits!
Prom Photos
There is a lot going on in our country right now. And while it may seem trivial in the grand scheme of things, maybe a glimpse of something happy is just what we need. Most high school proms were cancelled this year due to COVID-19. But for a lot of the ladies, isn’t one of the best parts of prom dressing up, anyway? So why not get fancy and do a mini photoshoot with your prom date? That’s exactly what this couple did – and I was honored to be a part of it.
Porch Portraits | Week 2
Because so many people in my neighborhood have been staying home over the last few weeks, I offered neighbors the chance for porch portraits – a quick photo session from a safe distance for an excellent price. Here are a few from week two!
If you’re local to the Johnson County/Kansas City area and are interested in porch portraits, please contact me! An additional mileage fee may apply, depending on location.

Newborn Portraits | Baby Elaine
I am always honored when I’m asked to photograph a newborn, and doubly so when it’s for a new client. Little Elaine is a truly precious gift, and she did great in her modeling debut! It certainly didn’t hurt that Dada & Papa did an amazing job collecting props and coming up with ideas. Isn’t she perfect?
Family Portraits | Long-time Friends
My first portrait session was about 12 years ago – an engagement session for this couple. Now they live across the country and have three kids who are growing up way too fast. But when they’re back home visiting family, I always love catching up and taking their photos. I was honored to shoot these in the church where they got married!
