Day 89: Sensitive Side

This is the third comparison between my old Pentax and my new Canon. This one relates to ISO, or the camera’s sensitivity to light. Using a higher ISO brightens the photo, which is great for low light, except the higher the number, the more grainy the photo. Check out the difference in image quality between the two images below, both shot with the same ISO. See how grainy the second photo is? With my old camera I couldn’t shoot photos indoors without great lighting or a flash. My new camera opens up so many new opportunities! (And isn’t that a cool wine rack?)

Canon 60d
1/20 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600
18-200 mm lens (18 mm), ambient light

Pentax K100d
1/30 sec., f/5.6, ISO 1600
18-55 mm lens (35 mm), ambient light
