The first beautiful leaf fallen from our maple tree (taken before the tree turned a brilliant yellow).

Some of the most brilliant autumn leaves I’ve ever seen were on our trip to North Carolina in 2008.
(See why I’m posting a photo from five years ago.)

Five years ago, my boyfriend (now husband) and I traveled to North Carolina. I was excited for the beautiful fall colors along Blue Ridge Parkway and in the Great Smoky Mountains, gorgeous waterfalls, and quaint southern towns. I got all of that and more – most importantly, a gorgeous “rock.” Jerod proposed to me on top of Mt. Craig (the second tallest peak east of the Mississippi, since the tallest peak – seen below – was closed for construction). Five years seems like such a long time, because it feels like he’s always been a part of my life, yet five years has flown by. I know five years is just the beginning of our journey, but it’s been a great ride so far!

Fall is just a few days away. Here are a few things I’m looking forward to during this favorite season of mine …

Sometimes leaves can be just as pretty as blooms, especially when the sun hits them just right and they’re covered in water droplets. I have to say though, I’m looking forward to this lily blooming.

One of the few times I have to just go out and shoot photos is during my lunch break, which doesn’t lend itself to the best light, but I make do. Here’s a shot from my photo walk on Wednesday.
And don’t forget about my holiday portrait special!
Yesterday started out unseasonably warm, but you could tell a cold front was moving in just by looking at the trees whipping in the wind.
All the pretty leaves have already fallen where I live. Half the trees are brown and the other half hasn’t even turned yet. Hard to believe we’ve already passed the peak, considering it’s just over halfway through October.
I warned you I’d be posting more fall leaf photos. I just can’t help it – they’re so beautiful!
I’ve spent a lot of time admiring the changing leaves and beautiful fall colors lately. And since the trees are almost to their peak already, you may see even more of these photos from me in the next few days.
