Photo of the Day: Brilliant Blooms

On October 23, 2013October 23, 2013 By LindyIn photography2 Comments

I saw this beautiful bouquet at the Maple Leaf Festival this weekend. It was only $10, and looking back, I wonder if I should have bought it. But what could be better than a photo that lasts forever?

A delicate lavender bloom at our house … any takers on what kind of plant this is?

(By the way, the answer to Wednesday’s photo is Sheltie puppies!)

Photo of the Day: Water Droplets

On July 23, 2013July 23, 2013 By LindyIn nature, photography

Sometimes leaves can be just as pretty as blooms, especially when the sun hits them just right and they’re covered in water droplets. I have to say though, I’m looking forward to this lily blooming.

This flower recently started blooming at our house – can anyone name it? It started out with very long, pretty leaves, so I didn’t even realize it was going to bloom until the buds formed.

Lilies are my favorite flowers, so I can’t help but post a second photo of this beauty blooming in my garden. This was taken with my 50 mm lens. Be sure to check out yesterday’s photo too, if you missed it.

I love this bright, beautiful (and interactive!) flower growing in my garden. Do you know what kind of flower it is?

One of my favorite flowers!

In case you missed the others this season….

Here’s a pretty pink flower for your Tuesday viewing pleasure, taken two years ago when trees were in full bloom. Still waiting this season…

Is this a Japanese cherry blossom or something else?

Photo of the Day: Delicate & Sturdy Flower

On April 5, 2013 By LindyIn nature, photography4 Comments

I recently passed a downtown community garden on a walk. With our long winter and spring just beginning, nothing had been planted yet. I did find this tiny flower, which reminded me of baby’s breath. So delicate, yet so sturdy after surviving the harsh winter.

Can you name this plant? Is it baby’s breath or something else?

Photo of the Day: Nature Competes

This delicate little tree bud was covered in snow and ice earlier this week during “Winter Storm Q.”

The trees in the Midwest are ready for spring, but the weather patterns clearly say it’s still winter.
