Day 188: One Stitch. One Step. One Hope.

Just one week from today is Relay For Life, so you may see several Relay-related posts in the next few days. I have to show off this beautiful purple ribbon quilt that Jerod’s grandma hand-stitched just for Relay. It’s going to be one of the featured items in the live auction. If you want to bid on it, come out to Relay For Life of the Northland (Gladstone, MO) at Oak Park High School around 8 p.m. 😉

This quilt is named “One Stitch. One Step. One Hope.” and was designed and hand-stitched by Grandma Lea in memory of my Aunt Jill for Relay For Life.

Day 187: Baby Blueberry

The first photo of my 365 Day Photography Project was a little baby bump named Blueberry. Yesterday I finally got to meet Blueberry, who is now 3-month-old Leah. She was such a great model for family portraits with Mommy & Daddy! She already has 18 pairs of shoes, which is at least 3 times as many as Daddy.

Day 186: Dirty Jobs

For some odd reason, I’ve been waiting all year for the window washers to clean our building so I could take a picture of them. They haven’t been to my office yet, but they were so close yesterday! Since I’m afraid of heights, this is a job I have an appreciation for, because I could never do it.

Days 182-185: Four Photos for the Fourth

We had a very busy 4th of July weekend, from Theatre in the Park in Shawnee, to a family celebration in Cherryvale, to hanging out in Louisburg, to the Corporate Woods fireworks display in Overland Park. There were plenty of great photo ops over the last several days. And…I’ve passed the halfway point for my 365 Day Photography Project!

Students perform Les Miserables at Theatre in the Park. It may have been a student production, but you couldn't tell by the amazing singing & acting.

Day 181: Bachelorettes

For the second year in a row, I took photos of the American Cancer Society Bachelor Auction committee. I love taking photos of these ladies, because they’re so great at posing themselves!

Day 180: Spring Rollin’

We have a monthly Make ‘N Take over our lunch hour at work, which usually consists of designing greeting cards and other crafts. But this month we tried something new … my friend and chef-in-the-making Tekia hosted a foodie Make ‘N Take! She taught us how to make spring rolls filled with fresh veggies, chicken, and shrimp. They were so tasty and fun to put together, I may have to make them again at home!

Day 179: Emptiness

Here sit my empty flower pots on the patio, because last week when I went to a nearby nursery, they had just cleared out their summer flowers. I blame it on being gone for half the month of May, but it was probably just procrastination.

Colorful, yet empty flower pots.

Day 178: Rain, rain, go away

Yesterday morning started out with strong thunderstorms and eery-looking clouds, then the sun shone for just a bit, but then back to more clouds. I’m sure all this rain isn’t helping the nearby floods.

Day 176-177: Sometimes it’s the simple things…

Despite the stormy, hot weather, it was a good weekend. On Saturday morning Jerod, Callie, and I went to Camp Courage, a camp for adults with special needs, to help with a booth for their carnival. And on Sunday we celebrated my grandma’s 87th birthday by taking her lunch and cake and watching the Royals. (By the way, the cake in the photo is cake #2. Cake #1 went in the trash can when I didn’t hear the timer go off and burnt it to a crisp. I took the ‘DO NOT OVERCOOK’ warning label on the angel food cake package to heart.) I think both of these photos illustrate that sometimes the simplest things in life make us the happiest.
