Family Photos | Fab Five

Last weekend, despite the dreary and foggy weather, I had a great time photographing this family just in time for the holidays. I loved how laid back they were, just letting me capture a slice of their life while they got to be themselves.

Family Photos | Third Time’s a Charm

I had a great time at all three of the holiday portrait sessions I did over the last couple of weeks, but I definitely think there are some keepers from this family photo shoot! We went to the Rivermarket area of downtown Kansas City, which offers a wide variety of settings, from parks, to urban, to everything in between. And Sophia is one of the cutest, most mature babies I’ve ever met!

Project 52 Week 44: Lucky Number Seven

This Sunday I took family portraits for some of my favorite people: my cousin, her husband, and their five kids. And I now have a favorite place to shoot portraits … Parkville, MO. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in the town, but the huge park, river, quaint downtown, railroad tracks, and beautiful Park University all make great backdrops.

*Do not attempt at home* I wouldn’t normally put your kids on a train track…unless you’re family.

Project 52 Week 43: Sweet Family of Four

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing  one of the sweetest families I’ve worked with. The seven-year-old and four-year-old were full of smiles and adventure, so we had a great time running around the park before sunset.

Project 52 Week 38: To Have and To Hold

Saturday evening I had the privilege of photographing Miranda & Jesse’s wedding. The fall farm setting was gorgeous, and having her fathers’ and guests’ airplanes in the background was a memorable touch. This was my first wedding, and since it wasn’t nearly as nerve-racking as I thought it might be, I hope it’s not my last. Do you have a favorite image below – or suggestions for the new wedding photographer?

Project 52 Week 35: Faces of Innocence

We had a big family get together at my parents’ house this weekend, using my cousin’s 30th birthday as a great excuse to hang out. With 10 little ones in the family, we were grateful for a gorgeous day so we could play outside. As usual, I couldn’t pick one favorite photo. All of my cousins are so cute!

Baby Samantha, 3 months old, likes to stare me down. (Maybe it’s the camera.)
Blake, 1 1/2 years old, was my buddy for the day.
Izac always looks like he is pondering something.
Emily loves to climb and dangle from trees, reminding me of a monkey.

Rock Chalk Baby

We got to welcome a new baby into the family this week! My cousin Holly, and her husband Adam, were blessed with beautiful baby Samantha on Monday, June 11. You can tell she’s going to be a huge MU fan, right? 😉

Mommy carefully strokes baby Samantha.
We actually remembered to get a photo of both parents with their newborn baby – something we usually forget.

Project 52 Week 17: Something Blue

This weekend we had the pleasure of attending the wedding of my elementary school best friend. She was a beautiful bride, and the intimate ceremony and low-key reception fit her personality perfectly. Even better – I adore her new husband – how he looks at her, treats her, and makes her laugh. It was great catching up with old friends, too.
