Happy Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving from this little turkey! I’m so thankful for this little girl, all my loved ones, my health, my “real” job at the American Cancer Society, and my ever-growing photography business. I am especially thankful for all of you who have taken an interest in my photos. Thanks you!

Holiday Portrait Session | West Bottoms KC

I’ve found my new favorite portrait location in Kansas City. I knew the West Bottoms would be a gem, but I was just waiting for the right family to go for it. I hadn’t seen these high school friends in over a decade, so it was fun to catch up and meet their kiddos. They did a super job just being themselves, which made my job pretty darn easy. Here are just a few of my favorites.

Portrait Session | Miss M’s Family

I had such a great time taking portraits for this energetic family yesterday. My husband teaches with “Miss M,” and I joke that I didn’t know her first name for at least a year, since he tends to call his coworkers by the same names the students use. Despite the chilly temperatures and brisk wind, these two feisty, fun kids did a great job posing and being themselves. (Mom and Dad did pretty well, too.) I’m so happy with how these turned out – I can’t wait to edit the rest!

Photo of the Day: Sleeping Beauty

I’m taking a quick break from my professional photos to peek into our lives this afternoon. Lil’ Miss K always falls asleep on the way home from church, but usually she wakes up when we get her out of the car. Today however, she was so worn out she stayed asleep on Daddy, which gave me a rare opportunity to capture this sweet moment.

KC Shines | Royals Blue Prints for Sale

These last few weeks in Kansas City have been crazy. Crazy good. The Kansas City Royals won the World Series Sunday night in game 5. We haven’t won since 1985. The whole city has been flooded with blue. Blue shirts, blue car flags, blue lights. The people have come together in an incredible way. We had 800,000 people at the World Series parade and rally on Tuesday!

A few days ago I journeyed around the city to capture some of iconic Kansas City buildings lit in blue to honor the Royals. I’m happy to announce that I now have a handful of them available for purchase on my etsy site. Order a print or two (or eight) to commemorate this historic week!

Portrait Session | Cash

I had a great time photographing the most well-behaved toddler this weekend! Maybe those of you who know him are laughing, but he was perfect for the photo shoot! He’s not even two yet, but he listened, posed, smiled, and was the best little subject. I did find out he loves rain puddle, though. 😉 We had fun running around downtown Parkville, MO – a cute town with tons of photo ops. We even ran into Elvis, who sung a little Johnny Cash for us.
