Project 52 Week 42: Self-Portrait, 3 years & counting

Last week was so busy, from a Fountain City Brass Band concert, to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, to my wedding anniversary. I haven’t had time to sort through many photos yet, so I’m posting a photo from our quick anniversary self-portrait photo session. We try to take photos every year on our anniversary, so we’ll be able to go back and see how we’ve changed from year-to-year. I don’t think we’ve changed too much yet. 🙂 These will serve as our Christmas photos, too.

By the way, don’t forget that Wednesday is the last day to book your holiday portraits!

Project 52 Week 41: Fallen

One of the few times I have to just go out and shoot photos is during my lunch break, which doesn’t lend itself to the best light, but I make do. Here’s a shot from my photo walk on Wednesday.

Fall leaves rest on a sidewalk in the Quality Hill neighborhood of Kansas City.

And don’t forget about my holiday portrait special!

Project 52 Week 39: Purple Light

Last week my extended family attended Purple Light – a vigil to honor & remember loved ones who have faced pancreatic cancer. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network hosts the event to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer and how desperately funding is needed for research to learn more about the deadly disease. Survival rates are the lowest among all cancers and haven’t improved over the last 40 years.

In memory of Aunt Jill.

Newborn Photography | Baby Ruth

Earlier this week my cousin and her husband blessed the world with Ruthie, their sixth child. Of course she’s perfectly sweet and gorgeous. Here are a few favorites from our hospital visit.

Ruth Nadine, bright-eyed at just one day old.
Ten perfect fingers…

… and ten perfect toes.
Ruthie remained wide awake during almost all of our visit.
A photo of me with Ruthie, since Mommy didn’t really want to be photographed right after giving birth.

Project 52 Week 38: To Have and To Hold

Saturday evening I had the privilege of photographing Miranda & Jesse’s wedding. The fall farm setting was gorgeous, and having her fathers’ and guests’ airplanes in the background was a memorable touch. This was my first wedding, and since it wasn’t nearly as nerve-racking as I thought it might be, I hope it’s not my last. Do you have a favorite image below – or suggestions for the new wedding photographer?
