I love this bright, beautiful (and interactive!) flower growing in my garden. Do you know what kind of flower it is?

In case you missed the others this season….

As you can see, I have been a busy bee updating my blog. I chose a new simple black design, I fixed all the missing links in old blog posts, I added social media links on the right, and I’ve been categorizing a lot of my blog posts.
Check out the Categories panel on the right. If you click a category, such as “night photography” for example, it will take you to all of my night photos. Not every photo has been categorized, but it’s certainly a lot more organized than before. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that every time I added a category to a photo, that particular blog post re-posted. So I sincerely apologize to my readers who just received about 50+ emails from me.
And the biggest update is yet to come – I’ll finally be adding a portfolio section! That empty “My Work” tab at the top will finally be filled. Thanks for your patience!
Here’s a quick photo from a few days ago to tide you over until my next blog post…
This summer, Platte Woods United Methodist hosted “Hot August Nites” – three Wednesday evening jazz concerts with free ice cream. The Beach Nuts, featuring the famous Walter Bryant, entertained us last night. They were both nutty and talented. 🙂
The downtown Y is getting a new roof, so it’s been surrounded with scaffolding the last couple of weeks. No one was working when I took this photo Friday…possibly because of the 103 degree temperatures?? On Saturday we hung out with some friends, and I think the heat was affecting all of us, including their dogs, who were particularly lazy that day. I think we might break the 1936 heat record of 39 days of 90+ degree temps.
Last night Jerod and I went for a walk to enjoy the slightly cooler than normal weather. Flowers, sun, and … bugs? Definitely signs that summer is here!
Ok, ok. It may have been more wet than wild. And it may not be summer yet, but it definitely feels like it with the 90 degree temps.
Yesterday was one of those cold, rainy days where you just want to stay inside. So I decided, despite the 40 degree temps, to do my annual closet switch from my winter wardrobe to my summer one. Jerod thought this photo was hilarious because it looks like I have so many clothes, whereas I looked at this photo and thought, “It looks like I have more winter clothes than summer clothes. I’d better go shopping!”

I think we jumped straight from winter to summer in the last few days. I absolutely loved spending so much time outside this weekend. We rode bikes, grilled, enjoyed a couple meals on the patio, and hung out with friends – all outdoors!
