Photo of the Day: Snowflakes, or Snowballs?

Yesterday evening I drove home during a winter storm with huge snowflakes. In a matter of minutes, the ground was covered. (Don’t worry Dad, this was taken at a red light.)

Photo of the Day: The Weight of the Snow

With a foot of snow on the ground and another foot expected tonight, I’ve never been more ready for spring. It seems so late in the season for such heavy accumulation, but I did find this photo in my archives from exactly two years ago.

Photo of the Day: Far From Spring

They’re calling it “Snowmageddon” – the largest snowstorm my part of the Midwest has seen in two years. Everyone in my apartment complex had quite a time trying to dig out their cars with brooms this afternoon.

People who had never met before helped each other dig out their cars after a winter snowstorm.

Photo of the Day: Old Tree

I took this photo a year ago on my in-laws’ land in Southeast Kansas. I chose not to use it as the photo of the week merely because I liked this photo better. Looking back, it is a pretty impressive tree.

It may be a gnarly tree in the winter, but this tree probably looks pretty impressive when its leaves grow.

Photo of the Day: Gentle Giant

I’m not a ‘large dog’ person, but I have to admit that the Great Pyrenees is a beautiful creature. You can tell how big this one is by comparing the size of my husband’s hands to her head. This one is only 9 months old…not even full-grown yet.

Photo of the Day: Memories of Grandpa

Today’s blog post is dedicated to my grandpa, who passed away two years ago today. Even though I miss him all the time, it really was a blessing after several years of dementia and living in a nursing home.

This is one of my favorite photos of him. In 2008 he was living in the nursing home, and grandma was recuperating from surgery and couldn’t visit for a couple of months. Despite the memory loss, he knew that grandma hadn’t been visiting, and he was thrilled when she finally came back, constantly kissing her and holding her hands. Their love endured everything – 64 years of marriage and beyond.
