Here are a few photos from Thursday’s newborn/family session. I’ve had the privilege of photographing this family from engagement to their first and second children, and I couldn’t be happier. What a beautiful family!

I couldn’t wait to post this cute photo of Ellie & Annie during Annie’s newborn portraits yesterday. Little Annie, despite making her way into the world a few weeks early and only being a couple of weeks old, was determined to stay awake through the entire photo shoot! I can’t wait to share more photos with you tomorrow.

Wednesday evening I had the opportunity to shoot Colton’s first birthday photos. The warmish weather & setting sun made for a perfect photo shoot. This is my first time doing portraits of a one-year-old. My tips for photographing babies or toddlers who are moving around a lot: shoot quick, be ready to improvise, bring their favorite toys, and keep an open mind.

Happy 1-week birthday to Mariah! If you missed it, check out this wide-eyed baby photo and this father-daughter photo posted last week.

My favorite shoes … my favorite pants … it’s going to be a good day!

I cannot believe my nephew is 9 years old! He’s a young man now – not a little kid. His iPod touch is definitely more fun to him than I am.

I had a great time hanging out with Colton … oh, and his parents … on New Year’s Eve. He’s grown a lot since he was born in March!
Last weekend, despite the dreary and foggy weather, I had a great time photographing this family just in time for the holidays. I loved how laid back they were, just letting me capture a slice of their life while they got to be themselves.
I had a great time at all three of the holiday portrait sessions I did over the last couple of weeks, but I definitely think there are some keepers from this family photo shoot! We went to the Rivermarket area of downtown Kansas City, which offers a wide variety of settings, from parks, to urban, to everything in between. And Sophia is one of the cutest, most mature babies I’ve ever met!
The leaves are turning, the weather is cooling off … it’s already time to start thinking about holiday portraits. If you like to send out holiday photo cards or have a family portrait tradition, check out my holiday portrait special. I’m offering Kansas City area family portrait sessions up to one hour for just $49. Included in the cost are five high-resolution images to print to your heart’s content. Or buy the entire CD for $39. Offer expires 10/31/12 and must be redeemed by 11/18/12. Please allow two weeks to receive final edited photos.
