Senior Photos | Meet Elena

I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with this gorgeous, creative, animal-loving girl last weekend. We shot her senior photos on her grandparents’ farm in Southeast Kansas … no one else will have photos quite like hers!

Portrait Session | Anniversary Photos – Wedding Dress and All

This is the first couple I took “professional” photos for – engagement photos over a decade ago. Now, ten years later, I have the honor of shooting their anniversary photos – with Lauren in her beautiful wedding dress (it still fits!), and their three children. I love the idea of re-creating wedding photos to show what has changed, and what hasn’t, over the last decade. I may even steal the idea myself next year. 😉 Congratulations to Lauren and Justin on their 10-year anniversary, and thank you for your continued faith in me to capture your beautiful family!

Miss M | 11 Months Old

Looking back at last month, I think Miss M has grown a lot! I believe she weighs about 17 pounds now (still petite), but she loves to eat! She can eat a whole Chick-Fil-A kids meal by herself, and she regularly consumes more at the dinner table than her 4-year-old sister. She’s cruising along furniture and getting into more stuff every day. (Her favorites are colored pencils, gel pens, the cat bowl, and the stairs.) She has started saying a few words, like “light,” “agua,” and “uh-oh” – my personal favorite. Best of all – her sister is great at getting her to laugh!

This is one of her silly faces she makes when she squeals or talks!

All Dolled Up

A couple of weeks ago, my oldest attended her preschool “prom” with her Daddy – the perfect chance to pull out the camera and get a few photos of the family!

And because grabbing the banister is her favorite thing…

Miss M | Eight Months Old

My little girl is eight months old today! This was the month of “almosts.” She is almost pulling up. She is almost crawling. She twists and scoots around both on her tummy and on her bottom to reach everything in sight. She can get from her tummy to sitting position and vice versa. She finally started rolling onto her tummy at night, so she’s now sleeping through the night – almost. (She still occasionally wakes up.) She gobbles up most baby food but her tummy doesn’t like yogurt – perhaps a slight dairy intolerance like her sister had. She loves to talk and mostly says “mama” still, which I don’t mind! She also trills her tongue better than any adult I know – Wookie in training! I think she weighs about 15 pounds.

See how she’s grown. And check out her sister in the same little vest a few years ago!

Miss M | 7 Months Old

I should really post more than my daughter’s monthly photos…but life has been getting in the way! This little girl is getting stronger every day. She has gotten pretty good at standing up while holding onto something, and she loves sitting up and grabbing onto anything within reach. She’s saying “mama” and “dada” and other cute baby words. When she cries, she trills her tongue, so while we should be offering sympathy, we’re often giggling at her. She sleeps through the night about half the time and has started enjoying baby food in small quantities. At her 6 month appointment she weighed 13 lb., 7 oz., so I would guess she weighs about 14 pounds. Her daddy, sister, and I are pretty smitten by her!

See how she’s changed since last month.

Miss M | 6 Months Old

Miss M turned 6 months old yesterday – making her now closer to one than to her birth. I’m just not sure I can handle it! She started sitting shortly after turning 5 months old, and has pretty well mastered it now, only toppling over once in a while. We’ve tried oatmeal cereal, carrots, and peas – she really has no interest in food (something we never experienced with her sister). The veggies just sit in her mouth and most of it eventually works its way back out. Her checkup is Monday so I don’t have weight/height stats yet. I know she’s bigger than her sister was, but still pretty small. Although she occasionally sleeps through the night, she usually still wakes up once.

See how she’s changed over the past month.

Miss M | Four Months Old

This little turkey is four months old today! She is in a pretty good routine with daycare and evenings at home, typically eating every three hours and napping throughout the day, then falling asleep around 9 p.m. and waking up once around 4 a.m. to eat. (Luckily she goes right back to sleep.) She has started rolling over front to back and grabbing toys, and she loves to give us big smiles, squeals, and little giggles. She follows her sister everywhere with her eyes! See how she’s changed since last month.

Miss M | Two Months Old

This sweet girl is two months old today! I don’t have official stats yet, but she’s still growing like a weed! She still loves to sleep and eat, and she has been going about seven hours at night between feedings. (Though sometimes her last evening feeding is at about 7 p.m., so we’re working on adjusting her time schedule.) She likes to give us smiles and has strong legs – pushing herself forward during tummy time and pushing herself up in the bouncer. I just realized she no longer vocalizes with newborn grunts, which makes me want to cry. I only have three more weeks with her/working from home before I’m back to the office, so I’m savoring this time.
