Miss M | And She’s Two

This girl. I feel like I was just bringing her home from the hospital, but last weekend we celebrated her second birthday. It’s funny to look back on how we thought she’d be our easy-going child. She’s fierce. She’s opinionated, she’s a talker, she doesn’t take “no” for an answer. She has the biggest personality! She and her sister are best friends – it’s a childhood bond I never really understood until I had two of my own, since my sister and I were twelve years apart.

Miss M loves Elmo and swimming, so we had an Elmo pool party! (Can I just say I love summer birthdays?)

It has been fun to take monthly photos of her, but as she grows, she won’t change as quickly, so I’ll concentrate on filling out her baby book rather than posting monthly. 😉

See how she’s changed from two months ago (I forgot to post last month), last year, and when she was a newborn.

Newborn Portraits | Baby Hollyn

Baby Hollyn made her appearance just about two weeks ago, and I had the privilege of meeting and photographing her last weekend! She did an amazing job – sleeping when she needed to, barely crying, giving me a couple of smiles, and being chill through the whole session. She’s one beautiful, sweet baby! Here are a few of my favorites.

On the Farm

My in-laws probably wouldn’t consider their home a farm, but compared to our suburbia, it certainly is. It’s a white-sided home with a red barn, picturesque land, and cows practically in the front yard. And a tire swing! You just feel at peace there. Here are a few of my favorite shots of my one-year-old and five-year-old playing in the yard before church during our visit last weekend.

Tulip Time

Earlier in April, we took a day trip to Topeka to visit my sister. We went to the Topeka Zoo, ate at Blind Tiger Brewery, and checked out Tulip Time at Lake Shawnee. There were more than 100,000 gorgeous tulips in bloom! My favorite part was watching my 5-year-old run along taking photos with her camera.

Miss M | Twenty-one months

Whew. My baby is officially getting close to two. She has started putting more words together, saying things like, “Found it!” and “Where’s Sawyer?” (her friend) and, “My turn!” She likes to sit on the potty but hasn’t quite figured out what it’s for. And this spring weather has certainly reminded us how much she loves being outside. She’s tries to ride the Strider bike and has learned proper technique for riding a scooter (but still needs help, of course). She has a huge personality and gets people laughing constantly. Gosh, I sure wish time would slow down.

See how she’s changed since last month.

This was the best photo I could get, because she wouldn’t stand still for a second!

Living Room | Before & After

My poor husband. He works so hard as a middle school teacher, and every spring break, just when he’s ready for some time off, I find another project. Last year we painted our office/playroom and half bath. This year, we painted our living room. And just as we were finishing that, I got an inkling to do our laundry room, too. There’s nothing better than a fresh coat of paint over old, scuffed up paint, and our laundry room had been bothering me since we moved in two years ago! I’m loving the new “cool” tones.

After. It’s just missing wall art and a bit of new decor to tie the new and old colors together!

After. Next project – replacing the dated tiles around the fireplace!

Miss M | Twenty Months

This girly turned 20 months old a few days ago. After a really rough winter, we finally had some relief with a spring-like weekend! What a treat to take the girls on a run to the park this afternoon. Miss M insisted on staying in her church dress, but we changed her out of her tights into comfy pants…hence the weird mismatched outfit. We’re never dressed for the occasion when the girls are in the mood to take photos!

See how she’s grown since last month.
