On our Thanksgiving road trip to Colorado, we took a detour to explore this impressive formation. How many of you knew there was something like this–something other than flat land–in Western Kansas? Can anyone name this site?

I’m still catching up on photo editing after returning from several days in Colorado. We stayed with another couple also expecting their first little one. I can’t thank them enough for the friendship we’ve built over the last couple of years and their hospitality while we crashed their house for three days.

It feels more like winter than fall in the Midwest, and just about all of the leaves have fallen from the trees. My husband and I are braving the frigid weather to rake our leaves before snowfall, in an attempt to help our new grass grow. Here are some brilliant red leaves from before they all fell.

I took family portraits for the Dill family about a year ago. It was much warmer that day than it is today! Here’s a fun photo I never shared.

Sweet Gracie Belle, a good friend’s dog, had major ACL surgery yesterday. Here’s to hoping she has a quick recovery!

This weekend my husband and I celebrated our niece’s 7th birthday. She chose a peace sign/rainbow cake and practically got a whole new bedroom – a full-sized bed, psychedelic bedding, and a lava lamp. Reminds me of when I was her age! (And no, it wasn’t the 70s.)

Her little brother was wearing a shirt absolutely fitting for him: “If It’s Not Broke … I’ll Get to It.”

Possibly the most anticipated NFL game of the season, at least in my neck of the woods, is tonight’s Chiefs vs. Broncos game! My husband and I had the unique opportunity to tour Arrowhead Stadium last week. Ironically, the tours are a lot more popular this year than in years past. 🙂 Did you know the Arrowhead logo on the locker room floor has been there since the 70s, and it’s bad luck to step on it? As you can see, it’s still perfectly white.

One of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen recently was at the Liberty Corn Maze. (Check out yesterday’s post to learn more about this fun outing.)

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I had a rare, fun evening date at the Liberty Corn Maze. Their mazes are amazing – five different mazes form a really intricate design – this year was the Kansas City WWI Museum. Four of them are over 2.5 miles long! We had a lot of fun finding the checkpoints throughout three of the four mazes.
A side note … this week we had a date night at our local library, watching Charles Dickens’ great-great grandson perform A Christmas Carol! Not only was the performance top-notch, but it was free. As infrequently as we do it, unique date nights are really key to keeping a relationship strong.

While visiting baby Addison in the hospital this weekend, we were thoroughly entertained by big brother Colton. He was having a good time running and jumping around the room, hiding in the curtain, and most importantly – playing on his parents’ iPad. He may only be 20 months old, but he’s probably better at it than I am! See how he’s changed in the blog posts below.
