Because so many people in my neighborhood have been staying home over the last few weeks, I offered neighbors the chance for porch portraits – a quick photo session from a safe distance for an excellent price. Here are a few from week one!
If you’re local to the Johnson County/Kansas City area and are interested in porch portraits, please contact me! An additional mileage fee may apply, depending on location.
I am always honored when I’m asked to photograph a newborn, and doubly so when it’s for a new client. Little Elaine is a truly precious gift, and she did great in her modeling debut! It certainly didn’t hurt that Dada & Papa did an amazing job collecting props and coming up with ideas. Isn’t she perfect?
My first portrait session was about 12 years ago – an engagement session for this couple. Now they live across the country and have three kids who are growing up way too fast. But when they’re back home visiting family, I always love catching up and taking their photos. I was honored to shoot these in the church where they got married!
I had a great time meeting and photographing this family last weekend! Little Ace, who just turned one, stole the show with his cute outfits – especially those suspenders and bow tie!
A few weeks ago I traveled to Portland, Oregon for a work conference, and I took advantage of the opportunity to visit the Northwest by renting a car on the last day to drive the Columbia River Gorge scenic drive. Not only was Multnomah Falls as impressive as expected, that drive in autumn was one of my all time favorite drives. And all of the waterfalls along the route were gorgeous!
Despite the pouring rain, I explored much of the area, almost in complete solidarity at times, and I loved every minute of it. Here are a few of my favorite shots – most with a new wide-angle lens, which proved to be perfect for waterfalls and scenery.

I finished last weekend’s portrait marathon with this adorable family, full of smiles and a dash of sass. I couldn’t help but post a lot of the girls – they’re just too cute!
Another one in the books for this photogenic family! With a mom who loves to take their picture, these kiddos have really gotten smiling and posing down to an art. We loved using the pops of fall color throughout Antioch Park.
It’s been awhile since I’ve taken any family portraits – there’s something about humid Kansas summers that turns people away. But fall is here, and I got to shoot three family’s photos this weekend! First up is Lance and Sarah’s family – they are one of my regulars, and we went to one of my favorite spots for fall portraits – downtown Parkville, MO! It’s full of charing storefronts, historic buildings, trains, and fun murals. The boys are adorable, especially when Big Brother loves on Little Brother. Have a look!
This girl. I feel like I was just bringing her home from the hospital, but last weekend we celebrated her second birthday. It’s funny to look back on how we thought she’d be our easy-going child. She’s fierce. She’s opinionated, she’s a talker, she doesn’t take “no” for an answer. She has the biggest personality! She and her sister are best friends – it’s a childhood bond I never really understood until I had two of my own, since my sister and I were twelve years apart.
Miss M loves Elmo and swimming, so we had an Elmo pool party! (Can I just say I love summer birthdays?)
It has been fun to take monthly photos of her, but as she grows, she won’t change as quickly, so I’ll concentrate on filling out her baby book rather than posting monthly. 😉
Baby Hollyn made her appearance just about two weeks ago, and I had the privilege of meeting and photographing her last weekend! She did an amazing job – sleeping when she needed to, barely crying, giving me a couple of smiles, and being chill through the whole session. She’s one beautiful, sweet baby! Here are a few of my favorites.
