I took this photo during Miss M’s seven month “photo shoot.” In my very biased opinion, it was too gorgeous not to share!

I should really post more than my daughter’s monthly photos…but life has been getting in the way! This little girl is getting stronger every day. She has gotten pretty good at standing up while holding onto something, and she loves sitting up and grabbing onto anything within reach. She’s saying “mama” and “dada” and other cute baby words. When she cries, she trills her tongue, so while we should be offering sympathy, we’re often giggling at her. She sleeps through the night about half the time and has started enjoying baby food in small quantities. At her 6 month appointment she weighed 13 lb., 7 oz., so I would guess she weighs about 14 pounds. Her daddy, sister, and I are pretty smitten by her!
See how she’s changed since last month.

Miss M turned 6 months old yesterday – making her now closer to one than to her birth. I’m just not sure I can handle it! She started sitting shortly after turning 5 months old, and has pretty well mastered it now, only toppling over once in a while. We’ve tried oatmeal cereal, carrots, and peas – she really has no interest in food (something we never experienced with her sister). The veggies just sit in her mouth and most of it eventually works its way back out. Her checkup is Monday so I don’t have weight/height stats yet. I know she’s bigger than her sister was, but still pretty small. Although she occasionally sleeps through the night, she usually still wakes up once.
See how she’s changed over the past month.

This sweet girl brings our family so much joy! She’s occasionally sleeping through the night, trying hard to sit up, and squealing in happiness all the time. She loves it when we sing and read to her! According to my scale at home, she weighs almost 13 pounds. I just can’t even believe how fast time is going with her.
See how she’s changed in a month.

Last weekend I met up with one my regular families for their yearly photos. Even though we planned them a little earlier in the season, it was still cold! Last year, I helped take photos for a birth announcement. This year, they have a sweet new baby boy, just two days older than my baby girl. They always pick fun locations – this time we headed to Kaw Point for a view of the downtown KC skyline. I planned it for perfect golden hour lighting, but it was foggy with no sun in sight. Luckily we still got some keepers!

I’ve known this mama for a number of years now, but I was so excited when she asked me to do family portraits so I could meet her two leading men! I also got to explore a new location – the Parkville Nature Sanctuary. It’s one of my new favs. You can’t beat a waterfall in Missouri! And little six-month-old Dean couldn’t be more adorable … I’m looking forward to editing the rest of the photos just so I can keep looking at that sweet smile!

This little turkey is four months old today! She is in a pretty good routine with daycare and evenings at home, typically eating every three hours and napping throughout the day, then falling asleep around 9 p.m. and waking up once around 4 a.m. to eat. (Luckily she goes right back to sleep.) She has started rolling over front to back and grabbing toys, and she loves to give us big smiles, squeals, and little giggles. She follows her sister everywhere with her eyes! See how she’s changed since last month.

Little Miss M turned three months old today. I’ve been back at the office full-time for a week, and I’ll admit it’s hard to be away from her all day. It also takes me two hours to get myself and both girls out the door in the morning, and that’s with an hour of prep the night before. But we’re adjusting well, and she’s such a blessing! She smiles and talks and continues to grow like a weed. She’s 12 pounds – so she doubled her weight in just 3 months! Check out how she’s changed.

Large portrait sessions are sometimes hard to coordinate. We’ve been planning this one for almost a year, but a couple of circumstances delayed it for quite a while. It’s almost like it was meant to be – the weather was absolutely perfect! This family was full of laughter and jokes. Many changes in my life have slowed down my photography this year, but they made me remember exactly why I love taking portraits. Thank you for that! Oh, and a throwback: I took photos of the youngest a couple of years ago.

One of my favorite photo families welcomed their third baby girl last week, and I had the honor of taking some newborn and family photos of them. They invited me (well, I invited myself) into their home just a few days after birth, because I was hoping to get both those sweet sleeping baby photos (the ones where you can pose them however you like), along with some awake photos. Unlike my newborn daughter, Abby was wide awake the entire time! I may not have captured a lot of posed shots of her, but I definitely got to showcase her beautiful newborn eyes and get some great shots of the family. You can tell they’re so in love with their newest edition!
