I’m sure the vineyards in Missouri look a lot different than the vineyards in California during the winter. We visited this one last weekend.

Today’s blog post is dedicated to my grandpa, who passed away two years ago today. Even though I miss him all the time, it really was a blessing after several years of dementia and living in a nursing home.
This is one of my favorite photos of him. In 2008 he was living in the nursing home, and grandma was recuperating from surgery and couldn’t visit for a couple of months. Despite the memory loss, he knew that grandma hadn’t been visiting, and he was thrilled when she finally came back, constantly kissing her and holding her hands. Their love endured everything – 64 years of marriage and beyond.

Wednesday evening I had the opportunity to shoot Colton’s first birthday photos. The warmish weather & setting sun made for a perfect photo shoot. This is my first time doing portraits of a one-year-old. My tips for photographing babies or toddlers who are moving around a lot: shoot quick, be ready to improvise, bring their favorite toys, and keep an open mind.

A few of the ladies in my office wanted to put together this symbol of HOPE using their hands for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. I shot the photos and put together the collage, and it turned out even better than we’d hoped! If you would like to get involved in Relay For Life or make a donation, click here.

I drive across this bridge every day, but not every often do I get to admire its architecture from this angle.

This weekend my husband and I visited Jowler Creek Winery for a tour and tasting. One of my favorite parts (besides the wine) was watching the sheep bound toward our guide as she banged the food bucket. They have sheep at the winery to “mow” the many acres of grass.

My husband and I started dating 6 years ago today, so I thought I’d share a photo from that first date. We’ve sure changed a lot since then!

I snapped a few photos earlier this week of the Kansas City skyline from the downtown airport. This is one of my favorites, because a plane was taking off at just the right moment.

This is another shot of Ginger from her impromptu photo shoot on Sunday. What does her facial expression say to you?
