Here’s one final photo from our 2008 North Carolina vacation. Sometimes I am still amazed by the beautiful spot we got engaged (the top of Mt. Craig).

I have one last photo to show from last weekend’s trip to the Kansas City Zoo – an adorable, wise-looking ape.
Check out the other photos in the series:
Sumatran Tiger
Golden Lion Tamarin

This Sumatran tiger is one of the most impressive animals at the Kansas City Zoo – quite the opposite of yesterday’s photo.

After the Kansas City Zoo Run Saturday morning, several of us decided to walk around the zoo for a while. I highly recommend visiting in the fall – the animals are so much more active, and it’s less exhausting on you when it isn’t so hot, too! This adorable golden lion tamarin (my husband’s favorite zoo animal) must be thinking something great – can you come up with a good caption?
(Read my friend Julie’s blog post about the run here.)

A purple wildflower on our walk the other evening.

Sometimes leaves can be just as pretty as blooms, especially when the sun hits them just right and they’re covered in water droplets. I have to say though, I’m looking forward to this lily blooming.

I accidentally watered this guy last night along with my green beans, but he didn’t seem to mind. He probably enjoyed it with all the dry weather we’ve had lately. I’m thinking it’s a katydid – can anyone confirm?

This flower recently started blooming at our house – can anyone name it? It started out with very long, pretty leaves, so I didn’t even realize it was going to bloom until the buds formed.

I’m excited to say that I took this photo in my backyard yesterday. I live in a suburb of Kansas City, so seeing an owl in my yard isn’t exactly a common occurrence. I heard a ton of birds making all kinds of squawking noises yesterday evening, so I looked outside to see what was going on, and this large owl was starring right at me. I grabbed my camera and took a couple of quick distance shots, then walked closer only to get few blurry shots before she flew off. Coolest nature experience so far since we moved in March! Does it look like she’s is blinking in this photo?

Geese are always fun to observe – the way they walk, talk, and eat all seems silly. This one was quite observant of me.
