I’ve always struggled with getting good fireworks photos, but I think this year’s Celebration at the Station was a success. I used a tripod and had my camera setting on a high ISO, wide aperture, and fairly slow shutter speed (1/6 sec.). This is one of my favorites from the evening. What do you think? Is there anything I could have done to improve it?
I’ve been team captain for our Relay For Life team for several years, so I’m constantly trying to come up with creative fundraisers. I spent some time this past week taking photos around the city. I’m adding to my portfolio so I can sell prints on etsy.com. I’m not in the business to make a profit. I am donating 100% of proceeds from these prints to the 2012 American Cancer Society Relay For Life. My goal this year is to raise $500. This weekend finally arrived … and passed too quickly. I was so looking forward to the Night of Hope – a Pancreatic Cancer Action Network gala – 1) because it was our first time attending a gala, and 2) the cause is close to my heart. My aunt passed away from pancreatic cancer last July, just 8 months after being diagnosed. Since then I’ve met so many people who have been affected by this horrible disease. It was a roller coaster of emotions; it was fun to dress up and get a fancy hotel room, but it was also incredibly touching to witness the Vigil for Hope, where everyone lit purple lights in memory of their loved ones.
