It’s easy to walk by the same scenery every day, taking it for granted, not appreciating its beauty. We did the exact opposite last weekend when I took photos for my neighbors in our very own neighborhood. We walked the trails, went to the fields, stopped by the pond, and finished in their own front yard. And I’m so happy with how these turned out, especially because the location itself was meaningful. Take a look!

Family Photos | Prairie Fire
I love, love the location this family chose for their portraits this year! The Museum at Prairie Fire proved to be a gorgeous spot (besides the wedding going on inside…preventing us from getting close). The bright colors in the background, the native plants, the reflections from the exterior glass, the beautiful evening … it was perfection!
Family Ties | Loose Park Portraits
I had so much fun meeting so many new faces last weekend during this portrait session! It’s always a rare treat to photograph an entire family – from grandparents to grandkids. (This is also the first time we’ve had to get a photo permit, thanks to some fairly new rules in Loose Park in KCMO. It certainly did cut down on the number of photographers, though!)
Family Portraits | Fairy Tale Forest
We picked one of my classic locations for this photoshoot – Ernie Miller Nature Sanctuary – without realizing we were arriving the morning of a Fairy Tale Forest event … perfect for little girls … just like these three. Somehow we managed to avoid the ferries & crowds without any meltdowns, and we got some great shots even with the very bright morning sun! This family did such a great job, despite it being our first time working together. Most of my business is through referrals, so pleases send your friends my way!
Newborn Session | Nora Jean
World…meet Nora. She was absolutely adorable throughout her modeling debut, and it was great catching up with her parents and watching them fall so naturally into parenthood. I’m honored to be a part of capturing their early memories together! Here are just a few of my favorites.

Team Tallmadge | Party of Five
I’m so, so excited for Team Tallmadge to be adding a new baby to the family! We really struggled finding a nice outdoor/nature location in early April that didn’t look totally brown. We settled on Ernie Miller Nature Center, and I’m so happy we did. I just love how these turned out with the tall grasses and bridge. If you’ve thought about doing maternity photos but have reservations, contact me for a free consultation! I’m here to make you feel beautiful and relaxed and capture those one-in-a-lifetime memories.
Family Portraits | New Baby
It’s always fun to meet new families through mutual friends, especially when there’s a sweet baby involved! This family welcomed me into their home to climb on chairs, crawl up on their bed, get down on their floors, and get up close and personal for some beautiful family shots. It was a great session to finish out the year.
Thank you to all of my clients for a rewarding year of making memories! Happy holidays. See ya next year!
KC Newborn Cutie
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet family and their brand new baby, just a few days old! Typically the newest of newborns sleep so much you can get those sweet posed, sleeping photos, but this girl was wide awake almost the whole session! We still got some adorable photos of her, proud big brother, and her glowing parents.
Fall Family Portraits | Black Hoof Park
We made the best of a chilly, rainy evening to sneak in a few family portraits at the beautiful Black Hoof Park last weekend. This family is one of my regulars, and I love taking their photos every year and watching them grow! Aren’t they the cutest?
Family Portraits | The Iconic Loose Park
Are you even a photographer if you don’t take photos at Loose Park in the fall? I think not, given the number of photographers we encountered at last weekend’s portrait session. It was the perfect evening, the leaves were at their peak, and the roses were still in bloom, so it’s no surprise it was the place to be. Despite all the other people, it was worth it. Loose Park might just have the best fall foliage in all of KC. (My fall wedding photos were even shot there a number of years ago!) Bonus: seeing cousins I hadn’t seen in almost two years! I love, love how these photos turned out, just like I love this family.
