We took advantage of this family’s beautiful backyard landscape for their portraits last weekend, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting. Plus, kids are often more comfortable in familiar surroundings. I love all of these sweet smiles! It’s so fun looking back to see how quickly they’ve grown – check out last year’s photos and newborn photos to see how quickly they’ve grown.

Family Portraits | English Landing
It’s been so fun to watch this family grow through the years. Their boys parallel my girls in ages and personalities so much that I always feel like I can relate to them. This year, we headed out to the beautiful English Landing Park, trying our best to avoid the crowds of outdoor enthusiasts. You’d never know this park was crowded from the photos!
Family Portraits | Stoll Park
Even though temps say otherwise, we’re already gearing up for fall portrait season! This repeat family was open to trying a new spot, so we checked out Stoll Park. It was the perfect spot for an early morning session, with a pond, beautiful trees and bridges, and native plant fields.
Family Portraits | KC Rivermarket
One of my favorite families is baaacck!! I love that they pick a new location for portraits every year. This year, we headed to Kansas City’s Rivermarket. I haven’t shot there for a few years, so it felt like all new territory. I love all the colors and the gorgeous golden light!
Spring Mini Session #2
This is the second mini session I donated to my girls’ elementary school fundraiser. Yes – we can get some fabulous shots in just twenty minutes! After having done full sessions and minis, if it’s your first time with me, I’d recommend the standard session to allow more time for everyone to warm up to the camera. But I’m still thrilled with how these turned out!
Spring Mini Session #1
I donated a couple of mini sessions to my girls’ elementary school auction this spring. Look at the adorable photos we can get in just twenty minutes! I got to help commemorate this sweet girl’s first trip around the sun – the hardest part was definitely narrowing down the best ones.
Nora is ONE!
A few months have gone by since my last session. I upgraded my equipment, traveled abroad (without the equipment), and practiced a few times before my first session this Spring. I’m glad to be back! I feel like I was just shooting Nora’s newborn photos, and here we are celebrating the big ONE. It was so much fun to meet her grandparents and include the whole family! Despite a chilly morning, she did a great job smiling, clapping, and waving for the camera. (Ok let’s be real…for the grandparents). Just look at how much she’s changed!
Family Portraits | Lake Olathe
This mama and I became fast friends through our kids a few years ago, so I was super excited and honored when she asked me to take their family photos. I love these kids and how they can be real around me. We got some great facial expressions, silly photos, and true authentic shots! These are just a handful of my favorites from the session. (And aren’t the fall colors gorgeous?)
Family Portraits | Meet the Robinsons
These kids. Not only are they best friends, they did such a good job smiling and encouraging each other throughout the photoshoot! And Antioch Park did not disappoint as a great spot for fall photos.
Family Photos | There’s No Place Like Home
New favorite photo spot located…Turkey Creek Waterfall! Even though it felt like we was exploring Blue Ridge Mountain waterfalls in North Carolina, we were actually in a Kansas City suburb. This fun, hidden secret is in Merriam, Kansas. Thanks to this family for trusting me to try something new! I love how these turned out.
