I took photos of Brian & Jill yesterday evening, and I can’t wait to sort through, edit, and post a few more. They are such a fun, photogenic couple – especially when you throw in their sweet dog Charlie! Just wait ’till you see the photos we did for their Christmas card – hilarious!
You will probably see quite a few fall photos on this blog over the next couple of months. It’s my favorite time of year, and I have a house now, which means room to decorate! I’m even making a few of my own pieces this year. (Just call me Martha.) This was one of the centerpieces at my bridal shower 4 years ago. I love that I’ve been able to re-use it! (We definitely picked a good season to get married.)
I had a great time at all three of the holiday portrait sessions I did over the last couple of weeks, but I definitely think there are some keepers from this family photo shoot! We went to the Rivermarket area of downtown Kansas City, which offers a wide variety of settings, from parks, to urban, to everything in between. And Sophia is one of the cutest, most mature babies I’ve ever met!

One of the few times I have to just go out and shoot photos is during my lunch break, which doesn’t lend itself to the best light, but I make do. Here’s a shot from my photo walk on Wednesday.

When we got home yesterday evening, we had package of homemade Halloween cookies waiting for us in the mailbox. And they were still in once piece! Thanks to my thoughtful family for including us when we couldn’t be there for the cookie decorating. Have I mentioned how much I love this time of year? 🙂
All the pretty leaves have already fallen where I live. Half the trees are brown and the other half hasn’t even turned yet. Hard to believe we’ve already passed the peak, considering it’s just over halfway through October.
Yesterday I was stressed out about my long to-do list. When I got home late from church after loading the sermon slides on the computer, I found my husband vacuuming. He had already taken out the trash, cleaned the cat box, and done laundry. When he asked me what else he could do to help, I replied, “Take a photo for me.” So he enthusiastically grabbed my camera and showed me photos of the moon that he had taken earlier. He was sincere about using his photo on my blog so I didn’t have to worry about one more thing.

As much as I wanted to cheat and use his photo, at 10:07 p.m. this is the photo I came up with. I think I like his better. Some days when I’m feeling down, he’s my light in the dark.
