Sunflowers for Miles

I was so excited when this family reached out to me to take photos at Ted Grinter’s Sunflower Field near Lawrence, Kansas. I had wanted to take pictures there last year but didn’t have the opportunity. Farmer Ted plants acres and acres of sunflowers and lets the public come visit and take photos free of charge. What an amazing place!

The beautiful views, coupled with the little guy’s huge smiles and adorable dimples, made for an awesome photo shoot. I have so many favorite images from this session! This is just a handful.

Portrait Session | Miss M’s Family

I had such a great time taking portraits for this energetic family yesterday. My husband teaches with “Miss M,” and I joke that I didn’t know her first name for at least a year, since he tends to call his coworkers by the same names the students use. Despite the chilly temperatures and brisk wind, these two feisty, fun kids did a great job posing and being themselves. (Mom and Dad did pretty well, too.) I’m so happy with how these turned out – I can’t wait to edit the rest!

Portrait Session | Cash

I had a great time photographing the most well-behaved toddler this weekend! Maybe those of you who know him are laughing, but he was perfect for the photo shoot! He’s not even two yet, but he listened, posed, smiled, and was the best little subject. I did find out he loves rain puddle, though. 😉 We had fun running around downtown Parkville, MO – a cute town with tons of photo ops. We even ran into Elvis, who sung a little Johnny Cash for us.

Portrait Session | My Family

Once every few years, we take family photos with my husband’s side of the family. This time around, my mother-in-law entrusted them to me. I shot these with a tripod, remote, and big memory card. It’s not easy getting 9 adults and 4 kids to look at the camera, keep their eyes open, and smile. Aside from glare on some of the glasses (which we worked pretty hard to try and avoid), I’m pretty happy with the results!

Photo(s) of the Day: Happily Ever After

Last weekend I got to be a part of a truly picture-perfect wedding. The weather was gorgeous (actually, hot for October), the bride was breathtaking, and most importantly – the couple was so obviously in love. A perfect beginning to a beautiful marriage.

(Since I was in the wedding, I unfortunately didn’t get to take many pictures.)

Has it really been five years?

Today is our five-year wedding anniversary. Has it really been that long? I remember every detail of the day so vividly, it feels like yesterday.

I still blame the hubby for the Bentley breaking down … maybe in another 20 years he’ll blame me. 🙂

Here’s a toast to many more years together.

I hope we can still dance like this at our 50-year wedding anniversary. Wait, who am I kidding? We can’t dance like that now.

We’ve been through many life experiences – going back to school, job changes, buying a car and home, vacations, and of course most importantly – a beautiful baby girl. Happy anniversary hubby! Five years is just the beginning.

These photos were all taken by Parigo Studios. We were so happy to have them as our photographers. I only added my watermark because I don’t want anyone stealing the photos.
