Photo of the Day: Memories of Grandpa

Today’s blog post is dedicated to my grandpa, who passed away two years ago today. Even though I miss him all the time, it really was a blessing after several years of dementia and living in a nursing home.

This is one of my favorite photos of him. In 2008 he was living in the nursing home, and grandma was recuperating from surgery and couldn’t visit for a couple of months. Despite the memory loss, he knew that grandma hadn’t been visiting, and he was thrilled when she finally came back, constantly kissing her and holding her hands. Their love endured everything – 64 years of marriage and beyond.

Photo of the Day: Wind Farm

The last time I took a road trip in January was two years ago … with my parents … for a funeral. Below is a photo of a wind farm we passed in Iowa on that trip. I’m lucky my parents were willing to make the stop, because I got some pretty cool photos, most of which have never been published before.

Today I’m leaving on another road trip, but this time it’s a girls’ weekend at a spa in the Lake of the Ozarks! I’m so excited. Hopefully I’ll have some fun pictures to share when I return.

Project 52 Week 18: A Picture Perfect Evening

I spent some time this past week taking photos around the city. I’m adding to my portfolio so I can sell prints on etsy.com. I’m not in the business to make a profit. I am donating 100% of proceeds from these prints to the 2012 American Cancer Society Relay For Life. My goal this year is to raise $500. So if you’d like a photographic print of Kansas City, or if you’d like to help raise money for this awesome fundraiser, please check out my Etsy page. I plan to add more photos over the next several weeks.

This is one of my favorites from the week:
