I’m always excited to visit to the hospital when my friends and family give birth – there’s not much better than holding a sweet newborn baby. I got to meet baby Caleb when he was just two days old. He was absolutely perfect – not a blemish to be found. He’s one week old today, and I’m sure he’s already changed! His mama went through a lot to bring him into this world – it’s the beginning of a lifetime of love for this little one.

Photo of the Day: Owl Always Love You
Last weekend, in contrast to yesterday’s four inches of snow, was actually quite warm. So we took a trip to the zoo. It was fun watching Baby K show interest and interact with the animals more than previous trips to the zoo. The first picture is what we claim to be her favorite animal – since her entire room and half of her wardrobe is adorned with owls. The second photo is probably her true favorite. The tamarin was actually very intrigued by Baby K!
Photo of the Day: Best Toy Ever
Who knew that the best toy in the world to 9-month-olds would be a remote?
Broken electronics? Check. I’ve got Christmas covered.

Photo of the Day: Those Lashes
My beautiful girl. And those gorgeous eyelashes.
Check out the other photos from our little mini photo shoot, too.

Photo(s) of the Day: Nature Sanctuary
One of the aspects I love about where I live is that despite the size (pop. ~30,000), and the location (the Midwest), there are still fun things to do. The Matha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon. We’ve taken a picnic and gone on a few hikes there twice now, but this was the first time with Baby K. Saturday felt like a nice day, until we started hiking in the sun. It was hot. We saw a lot of small wildlife though, and it was so nice to have a laid back Saturday afternoon – the first one in months! If only we had Labor Day once a week instead of once a year!
Photo of the Day: Too Petite
We tried Baby K in her door jumper last night since she’s starting to sit up and making lots of strong kicking motions. She’s still too short to jump – but as apprehensive as she looks in the photo, she loved just sitting and swinging in it!
