This weekend we celebrated my nephew’s 10th birthday. I think my husband had more fun with the new toys than my nephew did – he spent quite a bit of time building a huge marble track, eventually using every piece in the Marble Run set and the extender set. Don’t you love his concentration level?
100 years ago today, the American Cancer Society began the fight of a lifetime – the fight against cancer. With the help of volunteers, they’ve made a lot of progress in that time. In 1913, 1 out of 10 people survived cancer. Today, 2 out of 3 people survive. There is still more work to do, but together, we can finish the fight. Let’s make this cancer’s last century. Wednesday evening I had the opportunity to shoot Colton’s first birthday photos. The warmish weather & setting sun made for a perfect photo shoot. This is my first time doing portraits of a one-year-old. My tips for photographing babies or toddlers who are moving around a lot: shoot quick, be ready to improvise, bring their favorite toys, and keep an open mind.
Birthdays change as you age. My dad’s low-key birthday celebration on Thursday was proof of that. We met at a casual restaurant, and my mom baked him cookies instead of a cake. Since candles don’t really stick in cookies, he just held the 6 and the 4 while we very quietly and quickly sang happy birthday, so as to not disturb other patrons.
Of all the birthday-related activities my husband participated in last week for his Sept. birthday, playing with his new football may have been his favorite.
After taking well over 700 photos at Glacier National Park, I slacked off on photography a bit this past week. (By the way, my Glacier photos had the most views of any post on my blog – times about four!) I did snap a photo of this adorable little guy at my nephew’s birthday party this weekend.
My grandma may have blown out her 16 birthday candles one-by-one (one candle for each 5.5 years of life), but at least she had the breath to blow them out. I love that she still loves getting attention on her birthday.
This weekend we celebrated my cousin’s baby’s first birthday. Baby Blake One Year Ago. All of their friends and family have little ones, so I had a hard time picking out just one photo amongst all of the cuties. Ultimately I chose this photo of cousin Devon, because of the awesome static hair and the lighting. What do you think?
