In addition to my family and my job, I’m thankful for where I live. I love Kansas City – it’s not too big, not too small; most of my friends and family live nearby; and we have some great holiday traditions. The Country Club Plaza Lighting Ceremony tradition began 81 years ago. Believe it or not, this was the first year I’ve seen it. And with such warm weather, it had to be one of the best years!

Day 327: Seven Days of Thankfulness (Day 3)
I am thankful for my employer. Not only am I grateful to have a job, but I’m lucky to work for such a great organization. The American Cancer Society is dedicated to saving lives – what could be better than that?
Day 326: Seven Days of Thankfulness (Day 2)
I am so grateful for my little immediate family: my husband and my cat. My cat Esme is sweet, loving, and playful. My husband Jerod is sweet, loving, and playful too … and so much more. He forgives me every time I mess up, and he loves me even when I may not deserve it. I’m a lucky lady.
Day 325: Seven Days of Thankfulness (Day 1)
Day 1: I am thankful for my parents. Yesterday they returned from a three-week China tour. Aside from two very brief conversations, I had no contact with them, which that was more difficult than I expected. It made me realize how grateful I am for their honesty, advice, help, and unconditional love. I’m so lucky to have two great parents, and I’m very grateful they made it home safely.
Day 324: Insomnia
We really like our new place. The only downfall: raccoons in our attic. All the scratching, running, jumping, chewing, wrestling, and chattering keeps me up at night. On Sunday maintenance caught this guy in a live trap in our attic. (Can you keep a secret? I was in tears when I heard him trying desperately to get out of the trap for hours on end.) Poor guy … I wish they’d just fix the roof so we don’t have this problem all winter.
P.S. Since this is Thanksgiving week, I’m going to post 7 Day of Thankfulness, beginning with Monday’s photo tomorrow.
Day 323: Fall Family Portraits
I had a great time shooting family portraits Saturday morning. The family joked around, laughed constantly, and willingly tried some of my goofy portrait ideas. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did!
Day 322: It’s the Season of Food
Yesterday we had a big Thanksgiving lunch at work. Dessert is sometimes the best (and prettiest) part of the meal. One meal down, three to go. I’d better break out the stretchy pants.
Days 320-321: A Wintery Mix
Here are my photos from yesterday and today; they both remind me of cold temps – both inside and out.
Day 319: Squirrely Squirrel
For some odd reason, I’ve been wanting to capture a photo of a squirrel for months. I’m not sure why; maybe it’s just the thrill of photographing something that’s so fast and sneaky. On a walk yesterday, I finally caught my break!
Day 318: Salute!
Thanks to the Night of Hope silent auction, we came home with three wine bottles and two wine glasses to complete our wine rack. You would think we were wine connoisseurs. We definitely are not, but we can appreciate a good glass of vino every once in a while. Salute!
