Sibling Portraits

After shooting professional headshots for a business professional a few weeks ago, I was thrilled when she asked me to take photos of her kids, too! I’ve spent a lot of time photographing younger children, but the more time I spend with older kids, the more I love them! This family was a whole lotta silly and sweet – an absolute joy to capture memories of. The location? One of my favorites – Ernie Miller Nature Center.

Spring Mini Session #2

This is the second mini session I donated to my girls’ elementary school fundraiser. Yes – we can get some fabulous shots in just twenty minutes! After having done full sessions and minis, if it’s your first time with me, I’d recommend the standard session to allow more time for everyone to warm up to the camera. But I’m still thrilled with how these turned out!

Spring Mini Session #1

I donated a couple of mini sessions to my girls’ elementary school auction this spring. Look at the adorable photos we can get in just twenty minutes! I got to help commemorate this sweet girl’s first trip around the sun – the hardest part was definitely narrowing down the best ones.

Nora is ONE!

A few months have gone by since my last session. I upgraded my equipment, traveled abroad (without the equipment), and practiced a few times before my first session this Spring. I’m glad to be back! I feel like I was just shooting Nora’s newborn photos, and here we are celebrating the big ONE. It was so much fun to meet her grandparents and include the whole family! Despite a chilly morning, she did a great job smiling, clapping, and waving for the camera. (Ok let’s be real…for the grandparents). Just look at how much she’s changed!

Family Photos | It’s Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas

This couple entrusted me with their engagement photos years ago, having no portrait photography experience outside of college courses, and has been entrusting me ever since. When I look back on how many times we’ve done this, it makes sense that we could do an entire portrait session in 15 minutes flat! It was below freezing, so we were efficient, to say the least. I know mama was hoping for snow, but these pine trees were the next best thing. I love how it almost looks like we were at a Christmas tree farm!

Family Portraits | Fall at its Peak

We timed the fall leaves just right for this session – check out the gorgeous tree in this first shot! I love the go-with-the-flow attitude of this family, and their carefree, silly boys. We’ve done portraits together several times, but like many others, I hadn’t seen them since before the pandemic. They’ve grown so much!

Family Photos | Northwood Trails

It’s easy to walk by the same scenery every day, taking it for granted, not appreciating its beauty. We did the exact opposite last weekend when I took photos for my neighbors in our very own neighborhood. We walked the trails, went to the fields, stopped by the pond, and finished in their own front yard. And I’m so happy with how these turned out, especially because the location itself was meaningful. Take a look!

Family Portraits | Fairy Tale Forest

We picked one of my classic locations for this photoshoot – Ernie Miller Nature Sanctuary – without realizing we were arriving the morning of a Fairy Tale Forest event … perfect for little girls … just like these three. Somehow we managed to avoid the ferries & crowds without any meltdowns, and we got some great shots even with the very bright morning sun! This family did such a great job, despite it being our first time working together. Most of my business is through referrals, so pleases send your friends my way!

Family Portraits | Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

My most recent outdoor session couldn’t have been more perfect weather! We went to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and I quickly remembered why it makes one of the best portrait locations in the city. You’ve got urban designs, ornate structures, art sculptures, and beautiful nature all rolled into one. I never get tired of photographing this family and watching their kiddos grow – much too quickly – each year!
