My Miss M is already seven weeks old! She had her first smiles at five and a half weeks, but she’s just now really starting to smile for us. I actually caught a few on camera today! I included a couple of her typical serious face, too.

My dad, the girls (ages 3 and 5.5 weeks), and I took a 7-hour round trip to Shelbina, MO yesterday to visit my grandma. She was tickled to meet Miss M and see Lil’ Miss K again. She’s 93 years old but still hasn’t lost the “touch” when it comes to babies! Miss M has now met both of her great-grandmas.

I can’t believe my baby girl is already a month old…and I have to start thinking about work in a week and a half. *Insert sad face.* But oh my, how she’s grown! She is gaining weight much faster than Lil’ Miss K did (who had reflux and a milk protein allergy) – I think she looks like K’s size at two months! She doesn’t even feel like a newborn when I hold her anymore. *Insert another sad face.*
Here are her first comparison photos that I plan to do each month.

We welcomed Miss M to the world four weeks ago, today. I should have posted birth and newborn photos, but my facebook followers have been seeing pics of M for several weeks now, so it feels a bit redundant. I’ll catch you up with two newborn photos, and two photos from today, when Miss M met her great-grandma. They share a middle name: Mae. Her great-grandma still has the touch with babies and was pretty tickled to learn about her namesake. Love!!

After multiple scheduling conflicts over the last couple of months, I finally had a chance to photograph one of my favorite families at a gorgeous fountain in North Kansas City. I did their family portraits last summer and Baby D’s newborn portraits before that. I always love looking back to see how kids have grown! Their kiddos like to ham it up for the camera, which makes my job super fun!

Today marks 36 weeks into my pregnancy. Lil’ Miss K arrived at 36.5 weeks, so I have anywhere from days to weeks left. I’ve been meaning to have my husband shoot a few maternity photos for weeks now (before my belly got so big), but we finally got around to it tonight. It’s hard to see yourself gain more weight and get bigger than baby #1 (I mean, what woman isn’t self-conscious at practically every point in her life?), but I’m happy he did such a nice job capturing this stage of my life/pregnancy. While I’m ready for Baby M’s arrival, I’m trying to savor these moments. Lil’ Miss K is excited to be a big sister, too!

Last Friday night, a group of my friends and family participated in the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life. We walked the track from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m. in memory of my aunt Jill, and in honor of so many others who have fought cancer. I’m so proud of my team, The Dukes – we raised over $2,500 this year! Being 8 months pregnant, I didn’t walk as far as normal, but I still managed to get about 14,000 steps and keep that baby in! Here are a few highlights of the evening.

I haven’t been posting on the blog nearly as often lately, because I haven’t been taking nearly as many photos. We’ve been so busy with a new job, a move to a new house, and a new baby on the way, that I’ve barely had time! This weekend we had friends stay with us, so I had my camera out a lot. I just had to share this photo – a rare image with perfect focus, captured while Lil’ Miss K was jumping all over the place. More pics of the weekend to come!

With spring comes warmer weather…and wind! We definitely fought wind this portrait session, but the kiddos (and parents) did great. I couldn’t believe how much little Ethan smiled and posed for the camera. I’ve been doing this family’s photos since their engagement session close to a decade ago. Those photos were actually at the same park – in the wintertime! They live on the other side of the country now, but we’re always able to catch up when they come back to visit.

This past weekend was packed with Easter fun! We discovered Lil’ Miss K loves the Easter bunny 10 times over Santa Clause (who she was afraid of). When she saw him at the egg hunt, she ran up to him waving and saying, “Hiii!! It’s me!!” She showed him her most prized possession (her baby), gave him a hug, and posed for photos. (Is this my girl??)
Sunday morning, Lil’ Miss K hunted some eggs before we rushed around to make it to church. Since we just moved, we tried out a new church. We really enjoyed the service, but we sure missed our pastor and friends. Afterward, we hosted our first official meal in our new house. For the first time in several years, the weather on Easter was beautiful – so we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
