You may recall that a couple weeks ago we went to Potwin Pottery. This is the beautiful cross Jerod painted freehand. What a great addition to our bedroom!

Sometimes the simple things in life are the best. Like a Valentine’s Day evening spent at home with handmade cards and thoughtful gifts; a home-cooked meal; a great episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition; and most importantly, a wonderful husband!

This weekend was busy, so I didn’t get a chance to post photos until today. Jerod and I went out to eat and to a Maverick’s hockey game with friends and family Friday night. On Saturday, we hung out with my family and attended a Fountain City Brass Band concert. If you like music at all, you would love them – they’re absolutely incredible musicians. They have a concert about four times a year at Mid America Nazarene. On Sunday we visited my grandpa in the hospice house and attended my cousins’ 2nd birthday party – complete with a bounce house!
My cousin Shawn and his wife Angela had their baby boy yesterday, Feb. 10. Ironically his twin cousins have the same birthday! I waited until the end of the day to post this, because I wanted to make sure Angela had the first opportunity to post a photo of him. I have to admit, I’ve been dying to show him off. Welcome to the world, Blake!
This deserted alleyway in downtown Kansas City seems to go on forever…

One of the simple pleasures I have at work is my candle warmer and sugar cookie candle. I love watching the wax transform as it melts and becomes translucent.

I recently learned about the different phases of twilight. This photo was taken during what is called nautical twilight, when the sun is between 6-12 degrees below the horizon, or about 30 minutes to an hour after sunset. You can still see some color off in the distance, which can generate some beautiful photos. Especially when the moon is so bright!

Yesterday we attended a Super Bowl party with some friends from church. I should have been snapping photos left and right, considering there were about 30 adults and 15 high-strung children crammed into one house. There were certainly plenty of photo opportunities. But instead, I was enjoying the Super Bowl commercials (and the game). So when I finally drug my camera out at the end of the night, I resorted to another TV photo. I apologize for the lack of creativity – it (hopefully) won’t happen again.
P.S. If you haven’t seen yesterday’s photo, take a look. It’s better than this one. 🙂

After spending much time inside during last week’s snowstorm, we were ready to get out of the house. So we headed to Zona Rosa for a little outdoor shopping. I figured everyone else would have the same idea, but I guess it was still too cold out.

I love my job; yesterday we had a Super Bowl party & chili cook-off for lunch. One of the craftiest ladies at work, Christy, showed us up once again. She made this extravagant cake, complete with frosted Packers, Steelers, and referees.
